Samsung
has announced the Galaxy Note II at their IFA 2012 event and it doesn’t
disappoint. It features a massive 5.5″ screen and Android 4.1 jellybean as well
as being thinner and lighter than the previous Note.
Besides
the larger screen it also packs a 1.6GHz quad-core Exynos processor.
The
display is still a 1280 x 720 Super-AMOLED but the pixel arrangement has been
updated. Instead of the old pentile arrangement it now has a closer to equal
rgb mix:
The
hardware aspects of the phone are basically identical to the Galaxy S III, and
has the same 8MP camera as well. The S-pen has been updated and the phone can now sense the stylus when it’s
10mm above the screen, and performs actions like enlarging photos on hover and
opening menus.
The
phone will come in white or titanium (grey), either 16GB, 32GB or 64GB storage
options, and 2GB of RAM standard. It includes a massive 3100mAh battery which
is about the same size as the long-life Droid RAZR Maxx. With this massive
screen and beefy processor it will be interesting to see what the battery life
is.
No
news on carriers but it should be available in the fourth quarter of this year.
